Let’s explore some basic concepts about Belief Negotiation. First let’s recall the primary idea that “You get what you concentrate on.” and let’s go on to make an equivalency between ‘concentrate on’ and ‘believe’. Beliefs are totally key.

Thus what we are experiencing as ‘reality’ around us and within us is the the result of what we are concentrating on – what we believe. If we concentrate on conflict, we get conflict. If we concentrate on harmony… guess what we get? This means that our reality is always the result of our concentration. Never the cause!

But what is it that shapes and moulds this fantastically powerful concentration of ours? Habits, behavior and beliefs! Where we place our attention and what we concentrate on are hugely influenced by our beliefs about who we are and how the world works. [This is how the whole thing works...]

What we truly believe is faithfully projected, mirrored, and confirmed as ‘real’ all around us in our experienced reality. This is the glory of this physical dimension. We literally see around us and within us the very things be believe to be true. No matter how devoted a being is to getting lost in pure escape and sensation, one cannot help but eventually put ‘two and two’ together and notice that what’s happening around us is all about what we are believing! [And it all changes around us! It’s responsive!]

Something not often talked about is the fact that we are continually moving between beliefs. A belief is a process, not a state or a definition. It is a natural process of transformation that offers rich rewards to the observer because ultimately we begin to realize that we can actualize and experience whatever our preferences are – by choosing beliefs – or choosing the valued influence of a neutral core belief.

No matter how conflicted things might appear on the surface, the actual core belief – which is part of the blueprint of this physical dimension – is always neutral. There is never any judgement involved. “The sky is blue”, “I cry when I’m moved”, “Tomato seeds produce new tomatoes, but it takes a summer.”

It is when we engage a particular choice amongst the many possible influences of a core belief, that we begin to make the judgements about what we prefer, and these end up defining our experience. [this is all to the good by the way, no problem!]

What we think of as ‘real’ is actually our beliefs efficiently creating our reality for us without intruding on our awareness. What we think of as ‘beliefs’ are actually the ideas we are entertaining, often along with their opposites, or at least some ‘devil’s advocate’ aspect arguing the other side of whatever we want to create for ourselves. “Shut up!”, “No, you shut up!”

What we think of as beliefs are actually ideas, potential influences we are investigating and negotiation with, to see if they have what it takes for us to elevate them to be our ‘truths’.

We insistently need to evaluate, without putting too fine a point on any of this, whether or not ANY proposed new belief will offer ourselves the payoffs and outcomes we seek. [it is often clarifying and helpful to understand that we are always creating the perfect reality for ourselves within which to harvest the experiences and feelings we want. So whatever is happening is part of the bigger picture.]

We flirt with these ideas, these influences, trying on first one and then another, we play with half believing each of them in turn, until we make a choice and fully engage some choice and preference. Some chosen influence of a belief, but always with a very specific and well-thought-out intention. [It is very discounting of Self to imagine for even a moment that ANY single thing that happens in our world is not the perfect thing! Let’s look evenly for a moment, at any conceivable opposition to this point of view!]

This is all much more accessible to us consciously, rationally – in broad daylight – than we are giving ourselves credit for. Our five senses are alive to a spectacularly wider bandwidth than we have been taught to perceive, and even this quantum expansion of the scope of our possibilities says nothing about the magic and mysteries of synchronicity, happenstance, or serendipity, if you will. The tendency of the Universe to respond, positively, to assist anyone who sets out to realize their dreams. The thing is not only about you, but it’s tilted in your favor. [Do not look this gift horse in the mouth... Accept with a little grace the fact that you exist, and are 'amongst those present'!]

“The Other Is You!”

When we begin to appreciate the depths of this idea… When we begin to truly engage this idea that we are the centre of our universe, and what we sincerely believe about ourselves – about our world – must become our experienced reality. Well say! This is a very significant thing to understand and act upon!

The average person, equipped with this knowledge could advance him/herself very significantly because in these innocent explorations, we have given ourselves unknowingly the Keys to the Inner Kingdom!

Thanks for asking this question. There is a good point being expressed here…

If you think about it, the only time you become aware of your beliefs is when they’re not working for you anymore. Beliefs that are working are utterly invisible. What’s true is true, and what’s real is real. In everyday moments one does not trouble oneself with these kinds of distinctions and distractions. Life is to be lived!

If we are honest we will see that any belief that comes up for examination is doomed. As soon as we become aware of a belief, our ‘faith’ in that belief becomes less and less… until eventually our doubt overtakes our belief entirely…

The only difference… the only distinction that allows any of this to make sense, is the idea that we can learn to release these outdated beliefs sooner than later, given an understanding of the principles involved and a willingness to exercise a bit of laissé-fair capitalism on the home front, not to say actual personal freedom and unfettered creativity …

Why Belief Negotiation?

I am sure there are a few things about your life you’d like to change. Everybody would like to make some changes in their reality, even it’s only boiling the kettle faster or finding missing socks.

For most of us the alterations we have in mind are much more aggressive and significant; more money, less hassle, a new job, car, house, good health, a beautiful body, a beautiful mate… The list goes on.

Information is emerging that shows how important our beliefs are in forming our reality. It turns out that what we believe is a sort of lens through which we shine our reality creation energy. What comes out the other side – the realities we create – is enormously influenced by the beliefs we hold.

This can get right down to the nitty-gritty. Deepak Chopra tells a story about flying in a plane with his mother over India. They had planned to avoid stopping over in a particular city because his mother broke out in hives whenever she was in this city. She blamed the pollution as well as other qualities of this particular city for her painful skin reaction.

Deepak and his family had planned the route to avoid this city but after his mother went to sleep, the pilot came on and announced that bad weather was forcing them to make an unplanned stop in the city in question.

When Deepak woke his mother she was feeling fine, assuming they were at their destination. Within seconds of being told of the bad weather and where she really was, hives began to appear on her arms and face.

This illustrates the power and immediacy of our belief’s influence on the realities we create for ourselves. One minute this woman was in Pondicherri and feeling fine, the next minute she is in Bangalore and covered in itchy hives. Such a significant change in her reality, and the only thing that has changed is her beliefs.

When we experience the impact of our own beliefs on the experiences we create for ourselves, the first thing everybody does is try to kill the bad beliefs. If we can simply get rid of these beliefs, everything will be just fine.

But think back to the point made above. We need beliefs as the lens or filter through which we express our reality creation energy. Without beliefs we can’t create realities so the point is not to get rid of a belief, but to either negotiate a better influence of the belief, or move our concentration to another belief.

This is where a Belief Negotiator come in very handy. In the same way that every writer needs an editor because we can’t see our own typos, most people need help from other people to be able to notice their own beliefs.

An experienced Belief Negotiator can quickly identify the hidden beliefs that are creating what we don’t want, and address them directly either in the waking state engaging the conscious intellect, or in a trance state engaging the subconscious. Often what we think of as a belief is only one of countless possible influences of a neutral underlying belief we hardly think about.

Once the belief has been identified, it is comparatively easy in most cases to negotiate a new influence of the belief that allows us to create a much better outcome. This is often facilitated by aligning ourselves with the original intent of the belief in question.

One of the ways we stop beating ourselves up is realizing that every belief we have was chosen for a reason, and our overall intentions for ourselves are always overwhelmingly positive, wholesome and compassionate.

My own situation is that I have learned so much lately that I haven’t been able to put all of it into practice. I find myself noticing some daily travail or bad habit and just throwing up my hands in consciousness and letting it go. I know how to address these things but there’s only so much time in a day. Because of this embarrassment of riches, I am starting to trust organic priorities to show up and force my hand, so to speak, and more and more willing to let things that maybe I thought ’should’ be happening, slide a bit.

I am reminded of an old joke from my days growing up in Owen Sound. The agricultural representative (a much maligned and belittled government employee], came around to see the old farmer to show him all the modern new ways of farming, and the old farmer dismisses him impatiently, “I already know how to farm much better than what I’m doing now!”

What I fantasize about is a machine that uses artificial intelligence, hypnosis, and perhaps sensory probes [grin], to assess the belief structures and habitual expressions influencing the reality creation mechanisms of any particular individual, and then gives them ready access to the resources and imagery needed to redress any untoward situations in their lives.

I am seriously thinking of getting the url “Belief Negotiator” because I think a living could be made, and a very valuable service offered, by someone who was willing to engage the belief structures of their clients convincingly, and then suggest and facilitate immediately helpful adjustments and accommodations. More and more people are realizing that beliefs are the tools we use to formulate our behavior and experiences. Anyone offering effective help rearranging a person’s beliefs is going to become a busy and sought-after person.
